Welcome Adam Benson and Brett Perrot to the ACT team

We are excited to welcome Adam Benson and Brett Perrot to the ACT SHAPE Team. Both Experienced Construction Managers, they bring to our team over 50 Years of expertise in the building industry across the Canberra region.

Adam and Brett’s areas of expertise in the new build and fitout space have seen them lead complex construction programmes and stakeholder management on high profile projects such as The Acton precinct, Kambri ANU Redevelopment, and large scale Department of Defence developments. Adam and Brett have brought their experience and knowledge to our ACT team making them valuable additions to our already impressive team! Read below to find out more about them.

Tell us a little bit about your self
43 years old. Father to a 12-year-old boy, Riley. I Love fishing (with a passion), mountain biking, hiking and the outdoors, and will watch most sports. I enjoy the odd beer and Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.

What skills and experience have you brought to the ACT Team
28 years of industry experience. Started out as an apprentice carpenter in the residential side of construction and worked my way up to Site Manager for the biggest builder in Australia (Lendlease). I have worked on projects ranging from $5k – $750mil and everything in between.

What Project/s would you say have shaped your career as a construction manager?
No 1 or 2 specific projects have shaped my career; rather the collective experience of working in the industry for so long on so many varied projects and working with so many talented and diversely skilled people have contributed to my current position.

However, a couple of notable projects would be:

Winyu House in Gungahlin – $50mil new build which was my first project as a Site Manager for Lendlease. We won numerous industry awards including the MBA award for best commercial building in the category.
ANU Kambri Project – $270mil redevelopment of Union Court, which was my final project as Site Manager with Lendlease. At its peak we had 750 workers on site every day, 2 tower cranes, 7 buildings constructed simultaneously, all within the operational ANU campus.

What do you find most satisfying about your role?
Getting to work with awesome people.

What attracted you to come work for SHAPE
The Culture, The People and the Opportunity to help the ACT Branch grow and development into something even more special.

Tell us a little bit about your self
I am married to a school teacher, and together we have four children, ages ranging from 5 to 16 years, three boys and the youngest a beautiful little girl. My life outside of work involves running the kids around to various sports, as well as looking after my lawn. I love riding my V-Rod Harley Davidson when I can and getting to the coast as much as possible.

What skills and experience have you brought to the ACT Team
I bring my 25 years of experience to the Shape team, this consists of my NSW and ACT class A building licences. And knowledge of some exciting and unique projects I have completed throughout Canberra.

What Project/s would you say have shaped your career as a construction manager?
The Acton precinct- Building both Acton South and “Nishi” Putting both art and technical building together to create amazing buildings.

What do you find most satisfying about your role?
Bringing projects together from the planning / tendering stage to a completed project
