Working closely with CBRE and Gray Puksand SHAPE’s site set up included desks for both companies, allowing them to work from site with our team and collaborate on design solutions as they arose.

Engaged on a D&C contract, SHAPE worked closely with the subcontractors to provide value engineering solutions that suited the clients purpose and met the programme without compromising the design. This was particularly important with the potential COVID-19 delays to procurement and the social distancing measures required on site throughout the construction period. SHAPE’s Design Manager was heavily involved from day one of the project and was able to provide a number of cost savings; including the remediation of the existing subsoil drainage and irrigation and re-specification of lighting fixtures that would not meet the construction programme.

With the building to remain operational throughout, SHAPE installed clear signage, dust proof hoardings and maintained constant communication with the building manager and other stakeholders to ensure that all parties were well informed of upcoming works and were able to plan accordingly.

A key consideration of the project was the upgrade to the impressive shade sails that cover the building entry. The existing sails and steel structure had been in place since the construction of 191 Salmon Street in 2005 and were subsequently filled with more than 15 years of water. A comprehensive Corrosion Report was developed to ensure it would be structurally sound before removing the water and completing the installation works.

The SHAPE team are proud to have been a part of this stunning upgrade, with the building now boasting a remarkable 3-floor high entry atrium, refreshed floor plates and updated façade that will pave the way for new tenants to carry on the impressive legacy of 191 Salmon Street.
