Domain is a technology company focused on real estate delivery. They required a new and larger space to cater for their expanding team, which was quickly outgrowing their existing office.
This space featured ample facilities for meetings and collaborative working, including:
- Over 20 meeting rooms of various sizes with audiovisual facilities
- A large collaborative brainstorm area
- Multiple chat rooms
- Large breakout and kitchen equipped with media wall and conferencing facilities
- Two additional tea points
- Utilities
This unique appropriation of a heritage space features 350 workstations with additional hot desking facilities. Formerly a wool store, it features heritage timber columns, beams and a sawtooth roof with high-level windows. The atypical fitout environment and the heritage limitations meant clever structural engineering was required. For example, a system with a custom built structural framework was constructed between heritage structural trusses to support the ceiling system.
Early engagement and design involvement allowed for the design to be adapted to suit Domain’s requirements and we were able to capitalise on the qualities of the space (high ceilings, high light levels and exposed heritage elements) with minimal abortive works. Services above the built spaces and feature ceilings were concealed, leaving the open-plan areas clear.
Domain was ecstatic about their new space, and our ability to achieve a Perfect Delivery that was on time and within budget.
